7 Tips For Buying Your Wedding Dress

Getting ready to hit the bridal salons? Finding the perfect wedding dress can be an arduous task. So we're going to provide you with 7 tips that can help you make the process less stressful in advance. Have a read below!

1)  Plan Your Budget In Advance

Like most shopping experiences, you'll want to have a good idea of what you can spend on your dress before you go into the store. There's nothing worse than trying on a dress, falling in love with it, and then realizing that it's way outside your budget. It's hard to let go once you've found the dress!

Don't forget to include any alterations and extras that may be included in the price. This can sneak up on you, as sometimes alterations can reach the thousand dollar mark. Be sure to get a thorough quote from one of the bridal salon representatives

2) Decide On The Dress Code Of Your Wedding

You will want to have a good idea of what type of apparel everyone is wearing at your wedding. If your wedding is on a beach and everybody is dressed in a slightly casual way, you'll want to avoid an over-the-top traditional style of dress. Keep it light in this instance.

If your ceremony is in a church, you'll need to discuss the appropriate attire with your wedding coordinator so that you do not end up in a difficult situation. So do your research!

3) Bring Your Accessories

It's just about the dress, it's about everything that you put with it! So if you have a bunch of accessories in mind, such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc, you should bring those items with you to see how they interact with your dress. A few key items can really change the overall look, so it's vitally important to dress as though it's your wedding day.

Quick tip. Do not wear excessive makeup while shopping for your dress, despite what we just said above. Why, you ask? You don't want to accidentally smear makeup onto a very expensive dress that you're not intending to buy. Even if you are intending to buy it, this could cause real problems down the road.

4) Let The Salon Help You Decide

Sometimes you have to let the professionals do what they best. If you find the right salon with representatives who get your vision, then let them help you get there. Don't forget, they do this for a living, each and every day. They know what works, what doesn't, and how to help future brides get the most out of their wedding experience.

5) Shop Early

This not an item on the to-do list that you want to put off. Get this done asap! A lot of times, dresses can take up to 10 months to arrive from the date of order. This, of course, depends on where you've purchased and what type of dress you're getting. But regardless, if you want to keep all your options open, we suggested crossing this item off the list at least one year in advance. Just to be safe.

6) Involve Your Trusted Counsel

Bring your friends and family that you trust! This is part of the fun of getting married, go through the experience with the people who matter to you, mostly your bridesmaids and your close family. But not only that, they can provide valuable insight as to which dresses are working and which aren't. You do have to trust your gut feeling at the end of the day, but also be sure to consider your trusted counsel's opinion. They are after all looking out for your best interest.

7) Bring Food While Shopping

Shopping for a dress is typically an all-day (and sometimes multi-day) event. You're going to get hungry and thirsty. So bring snacks! Your trusted counsel we mentioned above will love you for it. This will keep the experience positive, fun and memorable.

8) Be Open Minded

Finally, be open-minded. You may not realize that the perfect dress for you is something that you would never have expected. This happens all the time. So be open-minded to different stores, types of dresses, and suggestions from your bridesmaids, family and the bridal salon representatives.
